Reuben Flowers (he/him) Traditional Knowledge Holder

Reuben is a teacher, hunter, traditional knowledge holder and artist from Hopedale. He currently works as a Life Skills teacher at ACMS. Through Reuben’s teachings, students throughout Kindergarten to Grade 9 are immersed in traditional cultural learning such as cleaning, cooking and eating wild food (fish, partridges, seal, etc.), woodworking (carving, sanding, building), working with sealskin (cleaning, scraping, sewing), story telling, sewing and beading.

He is a well-respected community member, actively volunteering and teaching cultural workshops in his community. Reuben’s passion for the cultural arts is evident. He holds a wealth of knowledge and is always ready to teach what he knows and learn new skills.

Within Inotsiavik, he would serve as a skills teacher, maintenance assistance, and provide transportation.

In his spare time, Reuben enjoys hunting, fishing, trapping, weather-logging, spending time on the land, going to the cabins, and relaxing with his cat Simon.
